Function
Qingdao Municipal Foreign Affairs
Office is a government organ in charge of foreign affairs
of Qingdao. Its main responsibilities are as follows:
--Implements and carries out China's
foreign policies, laws and regulations and instructions
and decisions concerning foreign affairs by Qingdao
Municipal Government; drafts and executes local regulations
and rules of foreign affairs.
--Guides and coordinates Qingdao's
key foreign affairs activities; examines and authorizes
the organization of major international events in Qingdao.
--Handles or assists in handling major
foreign affairs incidents in Qingdao.
--Administrates Qingdao's official
business travels abroad and to Hong Kong and Macao Special
Administrative Regions (SARs), passport and visa matters
for official business travels abroad and the issuance
of travel passes to Hong Kong and Macao SARs, and administrates
the invitation of foreigners to work in China.
--Administrates consular affairs concerning
foreign consulates-general in Qingdao; administrates
the organizations providing services for the foreign
consulates-general in Qingdao.
--Administrates foreign media affairs
regarding foreign journalists in Qingdao; guides and
organizes interview activities for foreign journalists
who come to Qingdao on a short-term basis.
--Organizes and promotes the activities
with international sister cities and friendly cooperative
cities, and guides the non-governmental exchanges with
foreign countries in Qingdao.
--Arranges for the reception of the
heads of foreign state, government, parties and other
VIPs and for the city leaders' foreign affairs activities.
--Coordinates and guides the protocol
work in Qingdao.
--Undertakes other tasks assigned
by the CPC Qingdao Committee, Qingdao Municipal Government
and higher foreign affairs authorities.
